Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has taken legal action to protect her “personality rights” in the Delhi High Court. The move comes in response to the unauthorized and fraudulent use of her name, photos, and public persona on various digital platforms and commercial products. The court, which heard the case, indicated its readiness to issue injunctions to stop this misuse.
Allegations of Fraud and Digital Misuse
Rai’s lawyer, Senior Advocate Sandeep Sethi, presented several examples of the exploitation of her identity. He highlighted a company named Aishwarya Nation Wealth that falsely listed her as its chairperson without her knowledge. He also pointed out that her image was being used on commercial merchandise like mugs and T-shirts without authorization. In a particularly troubling revelation, Sethi told the court that obscene, morphed, and AI-generated images of Rai were being circulated online, which he described as a severe violation of her dignity. The case is scheduled for further proceedings on January 15, 2026.
